Specialized examination Pediatric Oncology – Hematology

In the process of advancing their expertise in pediatric oncology-hematology, candidates gain both theoretical and practical proficiency. This equips them to deliver specialized care for malignancies and blood disorders in children, covering examination, treatment, preventive strategies, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Upon completion, candidates demonstrate the ability to autonomously evaluate scientific literature in oncology and hematology, and actively engage in research projects.

General Information

During further training to specialize in pediatric oncology-hematology, candidates acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that enable them to provide extensive specialist care in the field of malignancies and blood diseases in children. They learn the examination and care of oncological and hematological patients as well as preventive measures and interdisciplinary cooperation in primary care. At the end of the training, candidates are also able to independently and critically assess scientific papers on the subject of oncology and hematology and participate in research projects.

Admission and Duration

The training lasts three years and can be completed at various approved training centers in Switzerland and for up to one and a half years even abroad. A specialist title in pediatrics and adolescent medicine as well as a membership of the FMH are required. Candidates must also demonstrate substantial involvement in a publication in the field of oncology or hematology in a peer-reviewed medical journal.
